all of you guys here probably have already seen the botw sequel teaser, and i must ask, how long do you think nintendo would work on it? will it be 4 years just like the first one? or will it be longer knowing that nintendo has other huge projects to work on..

Today, Nintendo released a teaser for the Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (working title). So far, we've seen that Link still has the Master Sword, Link and Zelda see what appears to be a mummified body of Ganondorf, and Link has a new ability which allows him to use a magical hand. Hyrule Castle is seen getting lifted off the ground as well.
So how does that connect to the BotW post-credits? Here are a couple of theories:
- The ghosts of the Champions and King Rhoam going to rest mean that they will no longer have guidance for any further conflicts.
- The Ancient Voice (Fi) within the sword cannot be heard again. This means that Zelda can no longer seal away evil forces.
OR
- The Master Sword is losing its power and the evil forces sealed in it are breaking out, rendering the sword useless.
This explains why Link STILL has the Master Sword
- Divine Beast Vah Ruta stops working. This means that whatever new threat comes, Divine Beasts cannot be used to stop it the way they were used to fight Calamity Ganon.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any theories around the BotW post-credits?
Take a deep breath (of the wild)... who was expecting THIS to come up? I'm absolutely shocked, ESPECIALLY when they announced it on my birthday. Nintendo made my day.
Now, let's take a moment and think. Short-haired Zelda? Calamity Ganondorf? At this point, I can't even imagine what else is possible. A dark Zelda game? It's about damn time we get a dark Zelda game!
What are your thoughts? What was your initial reaction? I cried, to be honest.
If you saw the trailer for the sequel, we saw what appears to be the mummified corpse of Twilight Princess's Ganondorf.
If you remember, in Wind Waker, Ganondorf's body turns to stone and is then erased with the rest of Hyrule (except apparently the Master Sword).
For the original timeline, I heard Ganon turns to ashes.
Therefore, the only original body of Ganondorf left intact from his first death in any timeline is Twilight Princess's Ganondorf. If I interpret the sequel trailer correctly, then the sequel at least has to be set in the Child Timeline only, as neither of the other ones has a Ganondorf body left intact.
Unless, Ganondorf reincarnated two times in both, was killed then with his body left intact, then reincarnated again before becoming Calamity Ganon.
Otherwise... They previously said Breath of the Wild is set separately in all three timelines, but what if they decided it's just the Child Timeline now? That with Hyrule gone, Ganondorf never reincarnated in the Adult Timeline, and for the original timeline, he'll probably return again sometime?
Can someone clear this up for me once and for all?
So, when an incarnation of Ganon dies and gets reincarnated, does he remember his past life or is he considered a whole new Ganon?
Like, how Calamity Ganon is presumably a reincarnation of Wind Waker's Ganondorf in the Adult Timeline and Twilight Princess's Ganon in the Child Timeline (I think he's the same Ganon from Four Swords Adventure). Should we consider them the same Ganon revived, or the usual reincarnation cycle where he's kind of a different Ganondorf, if it makes sense?
