- 23— The Satellaview is released in Japan. This expansion system for the Super Famicom was the only way to play the games BS The Legend of Zelda and BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets.
November[]
- 24— The Nintendo 64 is publicly introduced as the Nintendo Ultra 64 at the 7th Annual Shoshinkai Software Exhibition in Japan. It was on this system that gamers would be able to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. A tech demo featuring Link was also shown.
