- April 1—IGN debuted a trailer for a supposed live-action film called The Legend of Zelda and based on the game series. One minute after midnight on April 2, the site revealed that it was an April Fools joke.
- July 15—Shigeru Miyamoto officially confirmed at E3 2008 that a Wii Zelda game is currently being developed.
- October 7—Volume 1 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time manga was officially released in English.
- November 28—The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is released.
- December 2—Volume 2 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time manga is officially released in English.
