The Ancient Helm is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is high-tech head armor and Ancient Soldier Gear developed by the Sheikah Guardians researcher Robbie, using Guardian parts in its construction to provide the wearer with resistance to ancient energy attacks from Guardian based lasers and ancient weaponry wielded by Guardian Scouts. It grants Guardian Resist Up effect when worn which reduces damage from Guardian attacks making it ideal head armor for combating Guardians.
Wearing a full set of "Ancient" armor provides an Ancient Proficiency set bonus that boosts damage dealt with "Ancient" weaponry though the set bonus is only available after all pieces have been upgraded to Level 2 or higher.
The set can be forged by the Ancient Oven Cherry at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in the Deep Akkala region after the lab's Furnace is lit using Blue Flame during the "Robbie's Research" side quest (Link only has to light the furnace and does not need to speak to Robbie or finish the quest to us Cherry to forge equipment). In order for Cherry to forge one, she requires 20 Ancient Gears, 5 Ancient Shafts, 3 Ancient Cores, and payment of 2,000 Rupees. This armor can be dyed at the Kochi Dye Shop.
The Ancient Helm is tied with the Soldier's Helm, Amber Earrings, Diamond Circlet, and Cap of the Wild for having the highest defense among headwear, but it has the added benefit of ancient weaponry proficiency set bonus and guardian resistance. It pays for these advantages with its steep price and rare upgrade materials however it is well worth the investment.
