- "This divine tune is meant to be played on a harp. It leads those chosen by the goddess to fulfill a great destiny."
- — In-game description
The "Ballad of the Goddess" (女神の詩 Megami no Uta?, Song of the Goddess) is a song from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. In the beginning of the game, it is sung by Zelda when Link visits her at the Statue of the Goddess. Later, Link learns the "Ballad of the Goddess" from the Old Woman. After learning the song's lyrics from Gaepora, Link is able to use the song to create a pathway into the Thunderhead. When played backwards, parts of the "Ballad of the Goddess" sound the same as the main motif of "Zelda's Lullaby", albeit in reverse (i.e., the low note plays before the high note). It is the main theme of Skyward Sword, and it has been remixed in a few of the background songs during the events of the game.
The song can be heard in Kakariko Village's milk bar in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on Hero Mode but the chance of hearing the song played is still rare. It will also appear as the background music in both original and arrangement form for the Skyloft stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Another arrangement can be heard in the spin-off game Hyrule Warriors.
The song also appears in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes when Link hits the Music Ball in the lobby of Hytopia Castle.
Lyrics[]
Oh youth, guided by the servant of the goddess,
unite earth and sky, and bring light to the land.
Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the Light Tower...
and before you a path shall open, and a heavenly song you shall hear.
