- "Keeeyaaaah! What is this?! An octopus?!"
- — Princess Ruto
Bigocto is the mini-boss of Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, the third dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. A gigantic, shelled Octorok, Bigocto's origins are unknown.
Story[]
Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
When Link and Princess Ruto are searching Jabu-Jabu's belly for the Zora's Sapphire, they find the stone floating atop a strange platform. Princess Ruto demands that Link throw her up to grab it, and when he does so, the platform ascends and seals a hole in the roof. Here, Ruto meets Bigocto, who presumably takes her hostage and rides the platform back down to confront Link.
Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.
Battle[]
To defeat Bigocto, Link must run around the spinning circular platform, while avoiding the spikes, in the opposite direction it is moving. When he comes close enough to Bigocto, he must throw the Boomerang at it, stunning it. Alternatively, Link can also allow the creature to damage him, resulting in Bigocto turning around. This allows Link to stun it while not at the risk of the spikes. At this point a green orb will protrude from its back, which can be damaged through conventional means. If a boomerang is thrown while the Bigocto is rapidly spinning, there is a 50% chance that it will be frozen facing away from Link, allowing it to be defeated without chasing it or taking damage. It returns after being stunned for a short while and turns around to chase Link. Link must repeat this process until it has taken enough damage. A single Jump Attack with a Deku Stick on the Bigocto's weak spot will defeat it.
