- "A plant that grows in quieter areas of Hyrule. At night, it gives off a soft glow. Cook with it to increase your stealth."
- — Hyrule Compendium
Blue Nightshades are a Material from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. These flowers can be found on the Great Plateau and other quiet areas of Hyrule. Blue Nightshade grows abundantly near Cotera's Great Fairy Fountain and on top of one of the mountains around Kakariko Village. Like other "Sneaky" materials, they glow in the dark and are easy to hunt at night. Twenty-four are required to upgrade the Sheikah "Stealth" armor set comprised of the Stealth Mask, Chest Guard and Tights. It also appears as a quest item in the Side Quest "A Gift of Nightshade". It is one of two flowers that add a "Sneaky" effect the other being the Silent Princess though Blue Nightshade is far more common.
Cooking[]
Link can cook with Blue Nightshade to grant the "Sneaky" effect to dishes and Elixirs, which increase Link's stealth. As an herb, Blue Nightshade can produce both herb-based and vegetable-based foods. It can be a main ingredient in soups such as Cream of Mushroom Soup, Cream of Vegetable Soup, Creamy Meat Soup, and Creamy Seafood Soup; steamed dishes such as Steamed Fish, Steamed Fruit, Steamed Meat, and Steamed Mushrooms; other vegetable and herb based dishes such as Herb Sauté, Fried Wild Greens, Salt-Grilled Greens, Vegetable Omelet, Veggie Rice Balls; and Sneaky Elixir. Effects do not stack in cooking, so Blue Nightshade cannot be paired with incompatible ingredients without resulting in Dubious Food save for when used to create Sneaky Elixir. It can only be added to Sneaky Elixir recipes as an additional ingredient as Sneaky Elixirs require a Sunset Firefly and any monster part as the main ingredients though the base recipe allows for three additional ingredients to boost the "Sneaky" effect. Blue Nightshade can be coked compatible cooking ingredients that have different additional effects though this will cancel out their effects resulting in dishes that only restores hearts though cooking it with other herbs with additional effects tends to result in dishes that restore only a few hearts as all herbs save for Hyrule Herbs do not restore any hearts which effects the number of hearts in the resulting dish or Sneaky Elixir. Using Blue Nightshade and/or Silent Princess to create Elixirs usually results in Sneaky Elixirs that do not restore hearts though other Sneaky ingredients like Stealthfin Trout and Silent Shroom are useful for adding hearts while boosting the Sneaky effect along with Blue Nightshade as these restore hearts in their raw form thus add hearts to recipes. Blue Nightshade cannot be roasted or frozen. It will burn up if exposed to fire or volcanic heat.
