"Oh? Who are you, Mr. Bunny? This world is like the real world, but evil has twisted it. The Golden Power is what changed your shape to reflect what is in your heart and mind. I am always changing my mind, so I turned into a ball... But if you have a ball called the Moon Pearl, you can keep your original shape here."

Bunny Link as he appears in-game

Bunny Link is an alternate form of Link, which he is transformed into in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Upon Link's earliest visits to the Dark World, he is affected by the corrupted power of the world, which assigns an individual a new shape based on his or her nature. Link, being basically innocent, is transformed into a large pink bunny. As a bunny, Link is unable to use weapons of any kind, and is essentially helpless.

This concept was revisited in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, where Link transforms into a wolf when exposed to Twilight.

Biography[]

It is possible to get as far as to the entrance to the Dark World's first dungeon, the Palace of Darkness; however, the entrance cannot be opened without the help of Kiki the monkey, who appears only to humans. Once he is returned to Hyrule, he must locate the Moon Pearl; having this mystic artifact in his possession will protect him from being transformed on subsequent visits to the Dark World. There is also a spiraling yellow substance found in several dungeons in the Dark World that temporarily turn Link into his bunny form. However, this energy can affect Link only once, and can easily be avoided (in certain cases) by hiding behind objects.
