Cheep-Cheeps are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are one of several enemies from the Mario series that make cameo appearances in the series. They are found in some of the side scrolling sections of the 2D Zelda games. Being fish, they are always found in bodies of water, although some of the Cheep-Cheeps have the ability to jump out of the water and try to attack Link. They are not especially dangerous and are relatively easy to dispatch with a sword.

Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening[]

Cheep-Cheeps can occasionally be found in side scrolling passages. Aside from weapons, an alternate way of killing them is to stand over them or jump on them when they jump out of the water. This causes them to flip over and sink off-screen.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons[]

Cheep-Cheeps appear again in both games and act the same as they did in Link's Awakening, though Link cannot defeat them by jumping on them. A sword slice can destroy them in one hit.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[]

Cheep-Cheeps can be encountered when Link is swimming in side scrolling areas. They do not attempt to attack Link and swim back and forth on preset routes. Several giant Cheep-Cheeps also appear.
