Dark World Portals are objects from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. These magical portals can be found throughout the Light World; when Link stands on one, it will transport him to the Dark World. If someone who does not have the Moon Pearl is transported to the Dark World by means of these portals, they are transformed into a creature that reflects their true nature. They cannot return to the Light World unless they have the Magic Mirror. The first Dark World Portal encountered in the game is found on Death Mountain. Some Dark World Portals can be found in plain sight, but most are hidden under darkly coloured stones that can only be lifted with the Titan's Mitt. When Link returns from the Dark World via the Magic Mirror, it creates a temporary Dark World Portal that remains until Link returns to the Dark World. However, these portals are only sparks of white light, and not the usual blue tiles.
