Deadrocks are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are small creatures with a mild resemblance to the Goombas originating in the Super Mario Bros. series, but with vestigial wings. When hit by an attack, Deadrocks turn into invulnerable stone statues for a short period of time. This can also block Link's path.
Appearances[]
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]
Deadrocks are found on Death Mountain. They move rapidly in the four cardinal directions, and deal a fair amount of damage to Link should he get hit by one. Deadrocks cannot be killed; however, Magic Powder or the Quake Medallion will turn them into Slimes, which can be easily defeated with a sword attack. Deadrocks will not be transformed if they are in their stone form.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[]
Deadrocks are found in the Death Mountain Foothills. They can be destroyed either by moving the giant Moving House over them or by striking them with the Magic Hammer.
Etymology[]
The name "Deadrock" is likely derived from their defensive mechanism of turning into inanimate rocks.
