"You got Deku Seeds! These are small, hard seeds that you can use as bullets for your Slingshot."
— In-game description

Deku Seeds are recurring items in the Legend of Zelda series. They are small, hard seeds that serve as ammunition for certain items depending on which game they make an appearance.

Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[]

Deku Seeds are fired from the Fairy Slingshot. Once Link acquires the Fairy Slingshot Inside the Deku Tree, he may find them in pots, grass, or as the spoils of generic enemies. Deku Seeds can also be purchased in certain shops. They are stored inside a Deku Seeds Bullet Bag, whose capacity may be increased twice during the course of Link's quest. However, Link can only use the Fairy Slingshot, and by extension, the Deku Seeds that are used for its ammunition, when he is a child.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[]

An unlimited supply of Deku Seeds comes with the Slingshot. Link can fire them a short distance or a greater distance depending on whether or not he charges the Slingshot before firing. The Slingshot fires three Deku Seeds at once when Link gives it to a Great Fairy to upgrade it to the Level 2 Slingshot.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword[]

Upon rescuing the Kikwis, Bucha rewards Link with the Slingshot, as well as a satchel which permanently allows Link to carry up to 20 Deku Seeds. After this point, additional Small Seed Satchels can be purchased at the Gear Shop in Skyloft's Bazaar and stored in Link's Adventure Pouch. Each small satchel Link equips allows him to hold an extra 10 Deku Seeds beyond his normal limit. Small Seed Satchels can also be upgraded twice; once into the Medium Seed Satchel, which holds 20, and once again into a Large Seed Satchel for a maximum of 30 extra Deku Seeds.
