Devalants are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They have worm-like bodies, but are otherwise like antlions. They create a Quicksand whirlpool that sucks Link in if he gets too close. Devalants can surface and retreat beneath the sand like Leevers. However, they do not move from the spot where they are.
Appearances[]
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]
Devalants come in two colors, blue and red, the latter of which spit a series of three fireballs in Link's direction each time they surface. They are found exclusively in the Desert Palce.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[]
Red Devalants are found in the Desert of Doubt.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[]
Devalants may be found in the Desert Palace. They attack as they do in other games, forming quicksand around themselves to draw victims within reach of their jaws and spitting fireballs. The most effective way to combat them is to pull them out of the ground using the Sand Rod, leaving them defenseless against any follow-up attacks.
