The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]

A single duck appears in this game. After Link finds the Boy's Flute in the Haunted Grove, he can befriend the duck by playing the Flute in front of the Weathercock in Kakariko Village. Subsequently, any time Link plays the Flute in the Light World, the Duck will carry him to a location of his choosing. It is said that the duck previously did this for the Flute Boy as well. Predominantly, the duck may only be summoned in the Light World; however, after the second defeat of Agahnim atop Ganon's Tower in the Dark World, Link is able to summon the duck to chase Ganon to his last refuge at the Pyramid.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[]

Ducks are found in Ordon Village and in the Fishing Hole. As a wolf, Link can talk to the ducks and learn certain things about the area. One duck in the Fishing Hole tells Link where to find the Sinking Lure, while another explains that people occasionally throw litter into the Fishing Hole which is why people occasionally reel in trash while fishing, thus explaining the sign telling people not to litter.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild[]

"There birds can be found on waterfronts all over Hyrule. Their webbed feet make them excellent swimmers, and their long necks allow them to duck their heads underwater to find food. Their fatty meat is high quality."
Hyrule Compendium

Bright-Chested Duck are the eponymous duck subspecies found on waterfronts across Hyrule. According to the Hyrule Compendium, their long necks allow them to duck their head under water to find food. Like all animals in Breath of the Wild, they can be hunted for their meat though despite what their Hyrule Compendium entry's statement that their fatty meat is high quality, it is actually low quality poultry like that obtained from Wood pigeons, Crows, Herons, and Seagulls. As a result they drop Raw Bird Drumsticks when killed by Arrows, Shock Arrows, Boomerangs, Sword Beams, or Remote Bombs. They drop Roasted Bird Drumsticks when killed with burning arrows or Fire Arrows. They drop Frozen Bird Drumsticks when killed with Ice Arrows.
