Are there any rules or at least guidelines regarding disambiguation pages?
I was under the impression that they are only to be used to distinguish between articles with the same name, such as "Skull Kid," "Farore," or "Ghost Ship." However, there is a disambiguation page for "Imp" which refers to Skull Kids, Imp Poes, and Midna. Shouldn't disambiguation pages be limited to articles that actually share the same name?
Next, I have also noticed differing styles. I have primarily seen two styles:
Example A[]
Skull Kid may refer to:
- A race from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess
- A character from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask
- A mini-boss from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- A playable character in Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends
Example B[]
Farore may refer to:
- Farore (goddess), the Goddess of Courage
- Farore (oracle), the Oracle of Secrets
I'm guessing that example A is the accepted standard. If so, I will work on converting disambiguation pages to that form. – Tirlby (talk) 04:33, January 20, 2019 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement about the purpose of disambigs. I don't think pages like Imp, Ant, or Desert Voe should really even exist. There's plenty here that we could probably go through and clear out.
