I have read about how Kakariko is most likely derived from the onomatopoeia for a chicken, but I can't help noticing how similar Kakariko is to the Maori word, "kakariki," which means "green." This also wouldn't be the first time Maori would be the basis for the name of something, either, since Rauru is most likely based on the Maori word "ruru," meaning owl, due to Rauru's incarnation as Kaepora Gaebora. I realize that the chicken noise makes more sense than "green," but the similarity is uncanny and I was just wondering what you guys thought. - That is an interesting connection theory and makes sense to me since Kakariko is a green area. Then again, I've never done much with looking at the etymology sections. --Birdman5589 (talk) 02:26, July 8, 2013 (UTC)
