Ganon's Tower is the final dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It is located on Death Mountain in the Dark World and serves as the Dark World's equivalent of the Tower of Hera. It cannot be accessed until Link has freed all the Seven Maidens. When all seven crystals have been gathered, the force field placed around the tower is broken, and a staircase reveals itself. Although the artwork implies that it lacks any walls besides the pillars holding up the tower, the game itself shows that it does have walls.
Story[]
Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
After rescuing Princess Zelda from Turtle Rock, Link must travel west, to Ganon's Tower. The tower has been sealed by Agahnim to prevent the hero from interfering with his plans. This seal is represented by a glowing magical force that illuminates the tower. The Seven Maidens, from inside their crystal prisons, use their power to break the seal placed on Ganon's Tower, allowing Link to enter.
Inside, Link braves the many obstacles in the tower and is forced to battle the bosses that held the Pendants of Virtue in the Light World one more time. Link ascends to the very top of the tower, where Agahnim is waiting for him. After the second and ultimate defeat of Agahnim, the true antagonist, Ganon, abandons the body of Agahnim and retreats to the Pyramid. Link chases after him by calling the duck with the Flute, beginning a final battle between good and evil.
Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.
Dungeon[]
The Dungeon has eight floors total, consisting of multiple rooms and enemies on each. Link must once again do battle with the bosses of the Light World dungeons before facing Agahnim. While exploring the Dungeon, the Red Mail can be found on the first floor near the center of the map, however, it is not necessary to continue progressing through the game.
