The Giant Turtle is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. This unnamed, mysterious turtle plays a minor, but invaluable role during Link's quest to prevent the destruction of Termina.
Very little is known about the Giant Turtle, but during his conversation with Link and Lulu, it becomes apparent that he is probably the guardian god of the Zora in a fashion similar to Lord Jabu-Jabu's role in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Giant Turtle being awakened
After Zora Link learns the "New Wave Bossa Nova", he must play it in front of Lulu, The Indigo-Go's' singer, who is standing in Zora Cape. As she hears the song, her voice is restored, and the little island she had been looking at rises out of the water and reveals its true form; that of a giant sea turtle. The Giant Turtle tells Link about the curse placed on the Great Bay and offers to take him to the Great Bay Temple. Link can use the Hookshot to help himself reach the Giant Turtle's back.
Due to the large storms around the Great Bay Temple, the Giant Turtle seems to be the only means of reaching the temple. Interestingly, a group of Gerudo Pirates can be seen trying to reach the temple in a small boat, but they are blown away by the storm.
After the completion of the Great Bay Temple and the restoration of the sea temperature, the Giant Turtle tells Link that he will return to his sleep once he hears a little more of Lulu's singing voice.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask manga[]

The Giant Turtle appears in the Majora's Mask manga as an ally to Link. His appearance in the manga is much larger than he is in-game, as he destroys the boat of the Gerudo Pirates with ease. After Link has given the single Zora Egg to the Professor, the Giant Turtle takes Link to Great Bay Temple, where he immediately encounters Gyorg.
Super Smash Bros. Melee[]
The Giant Turtle appears in the Termina: Great Bay stage, serving as a platform to fight on, taking up a good portion of the land area. He will disappear under the water and reappear after some time has passed. He will turn 90 degrees each time he reappears. He also appears as a collectible trophy.
