- "The legendary Golden Octorok. It can't be confirmed, but they are said to shoot chunks of pure gold..."
- — Figurine
Golden Octoroks are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. As their names suggest, they are gold-tinted, land-dwelling Octoroks that are much more powerful and durable than their generic counterparts.
Appearances[]
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]
In the Game Boy Advance re-release of the game, two golden Octoroks appear in a room of the newly added Palace of the Four Sword, along with a golden Octoballoon. These golden Octoroks are not nearly as resilient as those found in other games.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[]
After Link talks to a certain Old Man, he is given the task of defeating the four golden beasts in Holodrum. One of these is the Golden Octorok, which resides in Spool Swamp during the summer. It is more powerful than a generic Octorok, and if Link manages to defeat the Golden Octorok along with the other three golden beasts, he is rewarded the Red Ring by the aforementioned Old Man.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[]
Golden Octoroks appear throughout Hyrule after various Kinstone fusions. They are faster and more powerful than regular Octoroks, constantly moving and actively seeking out Link whenever and wherever he is in their territory. Golden Octoroks spit three stones in rapid succession when Link crosses any of the four cardinal directions before it, and it will turn in the middle of this attack if Link moves. It uses its durability to its advantage and will try to ram into Link to cause damage up close. The easiest way to defeat a Golden Octorok is for Link to stun it with the Boomerang and alternate between his sword and the boomerang, as golden monsters recover from being stunned very quickly. Additionally, if Link has gained the Mirror Shield, he can use the Octorok's stones against it with the shield's deflection beam. According to its Figurine description, the rocks it spits are supposedly made of pure gold.
