The Graveyard Key is a recurring item in the Legend of Zelda series.

Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[]

The first time Link enters Yoll Graveyard, the northern gate is locked. If Link follows the path south and then east, he will find two trees as well as the entrance to the Spirit's Grave. The dungeon entrance, however, is blocked by a line of gravestones, greatly limiting Link's movement. Burning the southern tree reveals a staircase to a cave. If Link lights the two torches inside, the Graveyard Key will fall from the ceiling.

When Link obtains the key, he is able to open the locked graveyard gate, allowing him to follow the path to the Spirit's Grave.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[]

Dampé gives Link the Graveyard Key when he is on route to the Royal Crypt. Soon after, however, a Takkuri steals the key. The Takkuri will then fly to a nearby tree. Link must ram into the tree with his Pegasus Boots; the Takkuri will then fly away and the Graveyard Key will fall out of the tree. Link can then take the key back to Dampé, who will then unlock the gate for him.
