"You got the Great Fairy's Tears! This sacred water contains the Great Fairy's prayers."
— In-game description

The Great Fairy's Tears is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. They are assumed to be the tears of a Great Fairy, kept in a bottle. Drinking Great Fairy's Tears provides Link with a temporary increase in strength, in addition to restoring him to full health. The strength bonus wears off after a short period of time, or if Link is hit by an enemy attack. Strangely enough, Link turns a golden color when he drinks this.

Great Fairy's Tears are quite rare. Jovani gives Link a bottle of the substance if he brings him 20 Poe Souls, and mentions a place in the Gerudo Desert where one can find more; this being the Cave of Ordeals. If Link clears the 50 gauntlet battles inside the cave, he is granted the ability to receive bottles of Great Fairy's Tears from any of the four Spirit's Springs located throughout Hyrule.

Normally, Link is limited to only one bottle of Great Fairy's Tears at a time. However, he will receive an additional bottle of the substance each time he completes the Cave of Ordeals, regardless of how many bottles of tears he already has in his possession.

Rare Chu Jelly (obtained by defeating a sparkling Rare Chu), has the same effect as Great Fairy's Tears and more importantly, it is possible for Link to carry Bottles contain both Great Fairy's Tears and Rare Chu Jelly at the same time (one holding the Fairy's Tears and another holding Rare Chu Jelly).

The Great Fairy's Tears also have a similar effect to Elixir Soup, given that they both restore all health and give Link a temporary increase of strength and attack power.

Note[]

A similar golden tunic was originally supposed to appear in Ocarina of Time, but it got cut out by the game's release.
