"Blimey! Where is he? That spoiled child is off playin' hooky again! A child his age has no business searching for fairies...!"
— Guide

The Guide is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. He is a large man who runs the pictograph contest at the Swamp Tourist Center in the Southern Swamp.

Biography[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

The Guide rewards participants of the ongoing pictograph contest for bringing him interesting pictures. If Link manages to take a picture of either Tingle or the Deku King, he will receive a Piece of Heart from the Guide if he presents the pictograph to him. Subsequent pictographs of either subject will yield a Silver Rupee instead (or a Fishing Hole Pass in the 3DS remake). Once Link clears Woodfall Temple and restores peace to the swamp, the Pictograph Contest is ended, and the Guide will not accept further submissions.

The Guide is the father of Tingle; however, he is disappointed in his son for skipping school and rejecting adulthood, instead spending his time searching for "forest fairies" and making maps. When shown a pictograph of Tingle, he is surprised to find he is still pursuing these interests, blaming himself for having spoiled his son. Despite everything, however, he still loves his son. Before Link leaves, he asks him to tell Tingle to stop wearing his inappropriate green clothes.
