Subseries warning: This article or section contains information on a subseries within the Legend of Zelda series and should be considered part of its own separate canon.
The Hero of Light, also known as the Mascot, is the protagonist of BS The Legend of Zelda and BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets. The player can choose between two distinct versions of the hero, a male and female version.
The Heroes of Light are not characters featured exclusively in The Legend of Zelda series. They were the mascots of the entire Satellaview system. However, when featured in the Zelda related titles, they would don the Hero's Clothes to make them resemble Link.
Appearances[]
BS The Legend of Zelda[]
The Hero of Light explores Hyrule, eventually defeating Ganon and saving Princess Zelda. This adventure is very similar to Link's in The Legend of Zelda.
BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets[]
The origin of the Hero of Light is given more focus in this game. It takes place shortly after The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and uses the same Overworld. The Hero of Light mysteriously appears in Hyrule in a flash of light one day. Princess Zelda talks to them about their mysterious origins, and says they reminds her of Link, who has left Hyrule. Throughout the game the Hero of Light explores Hyrule finding Ancient Tablets in the hopes of discovering why monsters have started to reappear and why Zelda is having premonitions of evil. In the end they confront the remains of Ganon's evil in Ganon's Castle. There Ganon reveals that he was the one who brought the Hero of Light to the world of Hyrule in hopes of using their power to resurrect himself. After a difficult battle the hero manages to defeat Ganon using the Silver Arrows. The hero then disappears from Hyrule and is never heard from again.
