- "A lizard found throughout Hyrule. It's a bit slow to react at times, but if given a chance to escape, it will dart off quickly. Cook it with monster parts for a speed-boosting elixir."
- — Hyrule Compendium
Hightail Lizards are items from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Link can cook with them and monster parts to create Hasty Elixirs, which increases movement speed. If cooked alone or with other cooking ingredients without monster parts, it will usually result in Dubious Food. Link can also add other "Hasty" ingredients like Hot-Footed Frogs or Swift Carrots, to the Hasty Elixir recipe to increase the duration of the "Hasty" effect.
In addition to being a cooking ingredient, hightail lizards are required for upgrading numerous armor types.
They are commonly found in both East Necluda and West Necluda regions thus are common all over the Necluda province. However they can also be found, albeit less commonly in other areas such as the Great Plateau. Beedle sells them at South Akkala and Lakeside Stables.
Hightail Lizards can be found climbing on trees, crawling on the ground, or by cutting grass. They will flee if they spot Link, though only if Link makes too much noise. Link can sneak up on them by crouch walking or by walking slowly upright. Additionally Sneaky Elixirs, Sneaky Food Dishes, and armor that grants Stealth Up can help Link avoid spooking them. Link can also kill from afar with an Arrow then pick up the defeated lizard.
