The Iron Shield, also known as the L-2 Shield, is a recurring item in the Legend of Zelda series. It is the second strongest shield in all of its appearances, being capable of deflecting stronger attacks than the Wooden Shield can. However, it is not as strong as the Mirror Shield or Hylian Shield.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[]
In Oracle of Ages, Link is at one point marooned on Crescent Island, where the Tokay steal all of his inventory. To reclaim his belongings, he must speak with each thief one-on-one. On the southern coast of the island is a cavern which he can only reach while wearing the Mermaid Suit. Here, he finds one of the thieves hiding. Instead of returning Link's Wooden Shield, which the Tokay says he has been polishing, he presents him with the Iron Shield. It can later be purchased at the shop in Lynna City or on Crescent Island.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[]
In Oracle of Seasons, Link can acquire the Iron Shield in Subrosia by first obtaining a piece of Hard Ore. If he brings the Hard Ore and his Wooden Shield to the Subrosian Smithy, the Master will smelt together the two items to create the Iron Shield. It can later be purchased at the shop in Horon Village.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword[]
The Iron Shield is more durable than the Wooden Shield but costs 100 Rupees to obtain. It is also cheaper than the Sacred Shield. Since it is made out of iron, it will not burn when it comes in contact with fire, but cannot repel or block electric attacks, and shatters if a Thunder Keese hits it. By taking two Eldin Ores, two Monster Claws and two Ornamental Skulls to the Scrap Shop in the Bazaar, Link can have Gondo upgrade it into the Reinforced Shield.
