The Kite Shield is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a Rito shield designed for aerial combat. It has a base defense of 14, though this may be increased by a "Shield Guard Up" bonus. It apparently has a wooden construction which causes it to be classified as a wooden shield, thus will burn if exposed to fire or volcanic heat, however it will not attract lightning during thunderstorms. Like other wooden shields, it can be used to collect arrows fired by enemies.
Selmie has one on display in her cabin and Kite Shield can be obtained at Selmie's Spot by completing the advanced course in 2:15-2:29. Kite shields can be also found in two Treasure Chests hidden throughout the Hebra province. The first chest is located in N. Tabantha Snowfield buried under the Northernmost giant skull. The other chest with a Kite Shield is in an ice block near the waterfall in Hebra Plunge, located northeast of Rito Village. Kite Shields obtained from chests do not respawn.
