The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass[]

At one point, Linebeck sends a letter to Link saying how awkward and "unmanly" it is to write a letter to someone rather than just speaking to them face to face. The letter is the first time Linebeck shows genuine, albeit modest gratitude to Link. In the letter is enclosed a Ship Part.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks[]

Before his death, Linebeck wrote a letter to his descendant, Linebeck III, detailing the location of a valuable Regal Ring he hid away. Link deciphers the letter's clues and finds the Regal Ring in a cavern north of Linebeck III's Trading Post. The Regal Ring is given to the Bridge Worker as payment for repairing the bridge to the Ocean Realm, despite the fact that the ring's worth is 8,000 Rupees, while the fee for his services was only 5,000 Rupees.
