- "Listen well, and remember the name well, squirt. I'm Linebeck III, president of Linebeck Trading. I hunt down the rarest antiques from around the world... Then I sell them to the highest bidder! How's that for an introduction?"
- — Linebeck III
Linebeck III is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. He is the grandson of Linebeck, a character from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He runs a Trading Post in New Hyrule and is the President of Linebeck Trading. Linebeck III is virtually identical to his ancestor, even in attitude and demeanor, the chief difference being his hat. Link can trade Treasures for either Rupees or Train Parts with him.
Biography[]
Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.
Finding the bridge to the Ocean Realm broken, Link hires the Bridge Worker to repair the bridge. However, he demands a fee of 5,000 Rupees. Linebeck III tells Link about a Regal Ring that his grandfather had hidden away before he died, whose worth is 8,000 Rupees. Linebeck III presents him with Linebeck's Letter, a piece of correspondence from Linebeck containing hints as to where the treasure can be found. Link searches around the Trading Post and finds a cavern, inside of which he uncovers the hidden Regal Ring with the "Song of Discovery". Link returns to Linebeck III with the Regal Ring, and the Bridge Worker takes the ring as his payment. Linebeck III is rather displeased with this, as his debt was only 5,000 Rupees, and the ring is worth almost double the amount.
Later, Linebeck III will mention a substance called Dark Ore, a very rare and valuable substance that melts when exposed to light; it is found at Dark Ore Mine, located in the northern region of the Fire Realm. If Link succeeds in bringing Linebeck III at least five Dark Ore, Linebeck III will give Link a Force Gem, which grants access to the Lost at Sea Station. After the Force Gem has been obtained, Linebeck III will still ask for Dark Ore, but Link will be rewarded with a treasure worth 500 Rupees or more; however, if Link fails to bring at least five Dark Ore, Linebeck III will scoff at Link and give him a Big Green Rupee, for the effort.
