- "You got the Magic Hammer! You can drive the wooden stakes down into the ground! You can use it to pound on other things too!"
- — In-game description from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Magic Hammer is a recurring weapon in the The Legend of Zelda series.
Appearances[]
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]
Despite its name, the Magic Hammer holds no apparent enchantment or magical properties besides it's light weight, unlimited usage and special effect when used on frozen enemies. It is found in the first dungeon in the Dark World, the Palace of Darkness, in which it is required to destroy the metal plating protecting the face of the Helmasaur King, the dungeon's boss.
Aside from damaging enemies, it can be used to smash various pegs that block certain paths around the Light and Dark Worlds, as well as to flatten Bad Moles that block Link's path. Unlike the hammers of the three-dimensional Legend of Zelda games, the weapon is rather fast, but has a very poor range. When used on an enemy frozen by the Ice Rod or Ether Medallion, a Magic Decanter often appears.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[]
Magic Hammers can be found on Item Podiums throughout Hyrule. They can smash objects and flatten stumps blocking Link's way. If Link builds up power by holding a Magic Hammer above his head, he can smash it down with great force, temporarily stunning any nearby enemies. If Link meets a Great Fairy, it can upgrade his Magic Hammer to a Level 2 Magic Hammer. It is identical to the Level 1 Magic Hammer, except that it produces a much larger shockwave when Link charges his attack.

Hyrule Warriors[]
The Magic Hammer appears as Darunia's Level 1 weapon in his Hammer moveset.
Hyrule Warriors Legends[]
In Linkle's Tale: Powers Collide, Darunia calls his Magic Hammer a legendary hammer, indicating that (at least within the non-canon Hyrule Warriors universe) the Magic Hammer possesses a similar legendary status as the Hero of the Gorons' Megaton Hammer.
