- — In-game description
Naydra is a neutral character and source of useful materials from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is first a large enemy found atop Mount Lanayru. It is one of the three spirit dragons of Hyrule, though it is first seen atop Mount Lanayru as an enemy due to corruption by the Malice of Calamity Ganon. Link must purge the dark corruption and save the dragon in order to get Naydra's Scale and complete a shrine quest.
Once awakened by Link's approach to its shrine, Naydra will take flight and circle around the mountain. Using his bow, Link must shoot the Malice growths on the dragon's body when their massive eyes open; the ones on Naydra's back may require him to use an updraft and his paraglider to get the proper vantage point. Link can also slow time by taking out his bow while paragliding and get a clear shot at an eye, but this will consume stamina extremely quickly. Link can easily avoid getting hit, though if he is hit, he will lose a quarter of a heart.
When hit, Naydra will drop one of several items (seen below) which have many uses in cooking, armor upgrades, and money-making.
Drops
- Naydra's Scale, by hitting him within an arrow in almost every part of his body.
- Naydra's Claw, by hitting his paw.
- Shard of Naydra's Horn, by hitting his horn.
- Shard of Naydra's Fang, by hitting his mouth.
Etymology
Naydra's name, like Farosh and Dinraal, comes from one of the three Triforce Goddesses. Naydra is the one named after Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom.
