"Nayru... Poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world."
Great Deku Tree

Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, is a recurring character in the Legend of Zelda series. She is one of the three Golden Goddesses of Hyrule. Nayru, along with her sisters Din and Farore, came down from the heavens and created Hyrule out of the chaos the land formerly was, each contributing her part in the process. Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, created the laws of the universe and magic. Upon departure, the three goddesses left the Triforce, the essence of their power, in the Sacred Realm. As the goddess of wisdom, Nayru is closely associated with the Triforce of Wisdom. Nayru is also the deity and creator of the Zora race of people and their tradition of using the Zora's Sapphire as a symbol of marriage is thought to be in honor of her.

The spell Nayru's Love was named after her. The Oracle of Ages, Nayru of Labrynna, is named after the Goddess of Wisdom, as is her great ancestor who appears in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Nayru's Pearl, protected by Jabun, was also named after her. Lanayru Province is named after her, a province of Hyrule which has been distinguished by a coastline, desert, and area of lakes and rivers, depending on the time in history. The Light Spirit, Lanayru, and its spring were also named after her likeness. In addition, the dragon Lanayru is named after the goddess. Her symbol is the Mark of Nayru.

Theory[]

Theory warning: This section contains theoretical information based on the research of one or several other users. It has not been officially verified by Nintendo and its factual accuracy is disputed.

Because of her part in creating the laws of the universe, it is speculated that Nayru is the Goddess of Time referred to in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. This could make her the deity who is worshiped in the Temple of Time from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. However, it is contradicted in Breath of The Wild where a statue of the Goddess Hylia is portrayed as the main centerpiece of the Temple of Time.

In The Wind Waker, Nayru could be the goddess the sailor's ask for blessings of protection and safe voyages on the high seas.

Theory warning: Theories end here.
