"Also found in the Mushroom Kingdom, Podoboos leap out of lava periodically. Time your jump across the lava pit to miss them."
Link's Awakening guide

Podobos (aka Podoboos) are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are typically depicted as chains of fireballs that follow the perimeter of a room or rotate around a block. They only appear within dungeons. Link may be damaged by a Podobos if he makes contact with it.

Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[]

Podobos are first seen inside the Tower of Hera and appear in most of the Dark World dungeons. Some rotate around a center block, while others travel around the edges of rooms, changing directions every time they strike a surface and sometimes returning back the same way they just came. They are one of the few enemies whose damage is not lessened each time Link obtains an upgrade of the current tunic he is wearing and always deal one heart of damage.

It should be noted that despite their name they actually act like the Spark enemies and Fire Bar obstacles from the Mario series.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening[]

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons[]

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[]

Podobos appear in the Palace of Winds and in Dark Hyrule Castle.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[]

Podobos begin appearing in dungeons after Link completes Inside Hyrule Castle.

Etymology[]

Podobos seem to be a reference to the Podoboos from the Mario series.
