The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[]

The Poe Sisters haunt the halls of the Forest Temple. When Link first enters the central chamber of the temple, the Poe Sisters appear and steal the flames from the torches in this room. Link must give chase throughout the temple, tracking down the four sisters and completing various puzzles to bring them out into the open, then defeating them in battle. When each is defeated, its corresponding torch becomes lit. Relighting all four torches activates the elevator that leads to the antechamber of the room where Phantom Ganon lurks.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask[]

The Poe Sisters reside in the back room of the Spirit House in Ikana Valley. The Ghost Hunter requests that Link heal their souls. If Link accepts and successfully defeats each of them within the time limit of three minutes, he is rewarded with their "earthly possession", a Piece of Heart.

Etymology[]

The Poe Sisters are named after the four main characters of the novel Little Women: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March. The Poe Sisters' birth order also mirrors that of their namesakes.

The Poe Sisters Are the Deceased Residents of the Forest Temple[]

It is possible the Poe Sisters were the former residents of the Forest Temple when it was still a mansion many years ago, and their cursed souls haunt the temple as their hatred transformed them into poes after they died, which may mean they died in a horrible way.
