- "What? You want to know if I'm a good fisherman? Of course I am! I'm an old pro! Do you know what a pro is? I'm telling you the truth!"
- — Pond Owner
The Pond Owner is a recurring character in the Legend of Zelda series. He is a professional fisherman and the owner of the Fishing Pond at Lake Hylia. Curiously, he is constantly scratching his armpit. He will provide Fishing Rods for those who pay the fee; once the fee is paid, the customer can fish until they leave the Fishing Pond.
Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[]
When Link is a child, the Pond Owner has a full head of hair, and holds the record for catching the largest fish in the pond. That fish is stored in a fish tank on the counter he sits behind. When Link beats the owner's record, his fish is placed in the fish tank instead. The Pond Owner provides Link with rewards such as Rupees, a Piece of Heart and a Golden Scale for breaking records. The Pond Owner does not abide the usage of Sinking Lures found near the Fishing Pond; if Link uses it regardless, and manages to break the record for biggest fish caught, his usage of the Sinking Lure is noted on the fish tank.
When Link returns as an adult, the Pond Owner, who is now wearing a skipper's hat, is happy to see him, claiming that his patronage was the only thing that kept him from going out of business. He also mentions his hair before dropping the subject. If Link can manage to aim and catch the hat with his fishing rod, he will find that the owner has lost a majority of his hair; subsequently, the Pond Owner amends a new rule against casting at people to the sign documenting the rules. Link may return the hat to the Pond Owner, or make it fall into the pond by continuing to fish. If the hat is lost, the Pond Owner demands the price of 50 Rupees as compensation; the hat remains missing for the remainder of the game, even during the ending cutscenes.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[]
Though the Pond Owner never appears directly, a picture of him catching a Hylian Loach is displayed on the wall of Hena's fishing hut. He is known as a legendary master fisherman. Hena comments that she admires him and hopes she is a descendant of his. Hena also scratches her back every so often, similar to the pond owner. This may be meant to indicate she is related to him, or is simply meant as a reference.
Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.
Theory[]
Because of similar appearance and behavior, as well as Hena's picture and adoration of the Pond Owner, it can be assumed that he is related to Hena and her siblings.
