- "The queen of Hyrule. Her light moves belie devastating magical attacks"
- — Manual Description
Zelda is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series. She made his debut in the series in Super Smash Bros. Melee and has consistently appeared in every game since. Initially, she appeared to be based on her model in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. From Super Smash Bros. Brawl to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U she is mainly inspired by the Twilight Princess incarnation of the character. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate she is inspired by her The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds incarnation, and to a certain extent her The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past incarnation. In almost every game in the series she has been available as a fighter from the start.
Fighting Style[]
Zelda mainly uses powerful magic attacks to defeat her foes. Typically they are either long-lasting attacks with multiple hitboxes, or powerful attacks that only strike briefly and are hard to land. In her original appearance and in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, she could transform into Sheik but starting in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U she is her own unique character.
It should be noted Zelda uses several of the spells from Ocarina of Time in her moveset. However in The Legend of Zelda series, she has never been shown to be able to use these abilities.

Other References to The Legend of Zelda series[]
In earlier games, whenever Zelda would transform into Sheik, the secret unlocked sound effect present in most Zelda games would play.
Zelda's palette swaps reference several different appearances she has had throughout the series. Including the green, red and blue dresses she wore in The Legend of Zelda, a purple outfit similar to her Ocarina of Time appearance, her The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past appearance and a white dress that might be a reference to outfit she wore as Hylia in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, as well as her field sprite in A Link to the Past. In Ultimate, her Pink costume resembled her Adult appearance in Ocarina of Time, while her Purple and White outfits resembled her Twilight Princess appearance and her field sprite from A Link to the Past, respectively.
