Ras as they appear in-game
Ras as they appear in-game

Ras are enemies from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The official name was never released for the English language localization of the game.

Ras are found in every palace except Parapa Palace. They resemble the dragon head statues found throughout the palaces. They move forward in an undulating pattern, and are quite durable. Though not particularly dangerous on their own, Ras are frequently found in conjunction with lava pits, and can knock Link to his death. They also drain Experience points from him on contact.

There are two different kinds of Ras; the standard blue ones are found throughout most of the game, and a somewhat more powerful orange one is found exclusively in the Great Palace. Orange Ras have a faster speed and a steeper movement pattern.

Etymology[]

Ras are likely named after Ra, the Egyptian sun god.
