- "The Hyrulean royal family would award this sword to knights who achieved remarkable feats. A sword that balances strength and beauty as elegantly as this one is a rare find."

The Royal Broadsword is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a sword with a base attack power of 36, though this may be increased by certain weapon bonuses. It can be obtained in Akkala Highlands, Tabantha Frontier, and Hyrule Castle. One spawns in the Military Training Camp. It is also occasionally wielded by enemies. Silver Bokoblins, Silver Moblins, and Silver Lizalfos often wield these and other "Royal" series equipment. Hinox tend to wear them as jewelry on their necklaces and if Link is stealthy he can remove it from a Hinox as it sleeps gaining a valuable weapon while avoiding a fight.
The Royal Family of Hyrule would award this broadsword to Knights of Hyrule who achieved remarkable feats. One hundred years after the Great Calamity, it is praised for both its balance of strength and beauty, though is a rare find. Its design somewhat resembles the Master Sword, but the crossguard is reversed and shares this design with the Royal Guard's Sword which is a Sheikah-made replica of the Master Sword. Though the Royal Guard's Sword has higher attack power its durability is so inferior that it is impractical as a weapon unlike the Royal Broadsword which is invaluable weapon for any adventurer or swordsman. It is superior to both the Knight's Broadsword and Soldier's Broadsword.
It is essentially the best Broadsword that was available to the Knights of Hyrule in terms of both durability and attack power making it truly a reliable weapon for any knight, Link included as it makes a convenient backup weapon to carry as a substitute for the Master Sword. Though they are technically rare, they are actually more common than implied to be especially when Silver enemies start appearing and Hinox always tend to carry them on their necklaces. They also spawn in the Military Training Camp and Hyrule Castle. Molduga occasionally drop Treasure Chests containing them when slain.
In the Side Quest "Riverbed Reward", Izra at the Wetland Stable notices a Treasure Chest that had fallen in Hylia River and wishes to know what is inside it. Link can lift it out of the water with the Magnesis Rune. Inside he finds a Royal Broadsword which Izra lets Link keep.
