"Nobody believes me, but I saw a ghost that has taken hold of Granddad!"
Flurris

Rupee Wraiths are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are ghost-like entities that drain energy from the living.

Appearances[]

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords[]

A Rupee Wraith

Once a Rupee Wraith appears, it will pursue Links until it vanishes or until it catches him. If the Rupee Wraith catches Link, it will start draining Rupees. The only way for Link to rid himself of the Rupee Wraith is to wait until it vanishes or "tag" another player, thus passing it on to them.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap[]

A Rupee Wraith from The Minish Cap

Referred to simply as "ghost", only one Rupee Wraith is seen in the game, haunting Gregal of the Wind Tribe. It is making him very ill and Link must exterminate it with the use of the Gust Jar. If Link helps Gregal exorcise the Rupee Wraith, he will be rewarded with the Light Arrows later in the game. If Link does not help Gregal, however, he will later be informed that Gregal has died, obviously from the Rupee Wraith's curse.
