The Scoot Fruit is an item from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. A purplish oval-shaped fruit, it may be used to exit a dungeon at almost any given time. It may be purchased from shops for the price of 50 Rupees, though only one may be carried at a time.
When a Scoot Fruit is used, Link throws it to the ground, instantly creating a purple smoke cloud that entirely envelopes him and brings him safely to the outside of a dungeon. This functions similar to flash bombs or smoke powder commonly used by ninjas in fiction as an escape tool; indeed, Sheik from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time uses Deku Nuts in this fashion to escape at several points.
Humorously, Scoot Fruits are referred to by a thief in Thieves' Town; if he did not know the password to the Thieves' Hideout, he will be told to "make like a fruit and scoot."
