"There is a secret passage in the throne room that leads to Sanctuary."
Princess Zelda

The Secret Passage is a location from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It is a hidden tunnel leading through the sewers underneath Hyrule Castle. At the beginning of the game, Princess Zelda is locked by Agahnim in a prison cell deep within the castle. She telepathically contacts Link and asks him to save her. Once he locates her inside the palace, they travel through the secret passage, located behind the King's throne in the Throne Room, to a remote Sanctuary. There, Link leaves Princess Zelda in the care of the Loyal Sage while he sets out to acquire the Pendants of Virtue and the Master Sword.

Link can return to the Secret Passage by way of a gravestone in the Graveyard. If he has bombs or the Pegasus Boots, he can destroy cracks in the walls, leading to a room containing over 300 Rupees.

This secret passage may be the same sewer passage Wolf Link and Midna use during their own prison escape in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, though this is never explicitly stated or implied.
