The Soldier's Shield is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a shield with a defense rating of 16, though this may be increase if it has a Defense Guard Up Bonus. It is occasionally wielded by enemies and like all shields in Breath of the Wild, Link can use it to Shield Surf. One spawns behind a large rock at the Serenne Stable next to a Soldier's Bow. Another spawns near a Campfire at the Snowfield Stable next to a Soldier's Spear.
It once used by Hyrulean Soldiers that guarded Hyrule Castle. Though it appears to be made of mostly metal it has a wooden core, which causes it to burn when exposed to fire or high temperature areas of Death Mountain.
Link can take a picture of one with the Camera Rune to add it to the Hyrule Compendium, where it appears as entry number 357 in the Compendium's equipment section. Its can be found in the Hyrule Field and Tabantha Frontier regions according to the common locations section of its entry in the Hyrule Compendium. Once it has been added to the compendium, Link can search for Soldier's Shields using the Sheiikah Sensor+ obtained from Purah at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.
