Steen is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. He is a Sheikah farmer living at Kakariko Village in the region of West Necluda. He grows Swift Carrots and his wife Trissa runs the High Spirits Produce shop and sells his production.
He tries to convince Link that one hundred years ago, the legendary hero grew strong because of Swift Carrots. But he refuses to believe Link being the hero and insists to eat them to become strong as he heard it from a member of his family.
Farmers rivalry[]
Steen has a somewhat bitter rivalry with Olkin the Pumpkin farmer whom he dislikes due to his belief that the best offense is a good defense, while Steen believes the opposite. He also dislikes Olkin's slow method of hunting wild game when they go together, as Olkin takes forever to quietly creep up on their prey. This rivalry is a reason why Trissa cannot sell pumpkins at her shop and cannot inform Link how to obtain them. Olkin sells them directly from his patch.
Olkin hates Steen for refusing to allow Fortified Pumpkin to be sold at High Spirits Produce and takes his frustration out on Steen's carrot patch at night. Link can catch him in the act causing him to promise to stop though he never does. Ironically it is implied Olkin's nightly attacks benefits Steen as they inadvertently till the soil as Steen unaware of these attacks notes when spoken to in the morning before reaching his patch that the soil in his patch always looks like its been freshly tilled in the morning. Mellie also implies the source of Olkin's rivalry with Steen is due to his hatred of carrots which apparently influences his negative opinion of Steen along with Steen's prohibiting pumpkins from being sold at High Spirits Produce.
