- "A sword wielded by a hero in an ancient age. When grasped, a strange sense of nostalgia washes over you. Take it when going alone would otherwise be dangerous."
- — In-game description
The Sword is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is a sword obtainable by randomly using the amiibo Rune and the 8-Bit Link amiibo of the The Legend of Zelda: 30th Anniversary amiibo series after freeing at least one of the Divine Beasts. This sword is a reference to Link's classic sword in The Legend of Zelda though its design is inspired by swords depicted promotional artwork of classic Link as well as design elements of various classic starting swords from the Hero's Downfall timeline such as the Wooden Sword, Fighter's Sword, Sword (Link's Awakening), and even the Forgotten Sword. Its in-game description also makes a reference to the Old Man's infamous quote from The Legend of Zelda.
It has a base attack power of 22 but this may be increased by certain weapon bonuses. It has the same base durability as the Knight's Broadsword, Feathered Edge, and Zora Sword though its base attack is inferior to the Knight's Broadsword while superior to the Feathered Edge and Zora Sword. However its weapon bonus enhanced stats are potentially greater than the Knight's Sword and like most weapons acquired through the amiibo rune it is more likely to have some kind of weapon bonus. Its base attack and durability are superior to the Sea-Breeze Boomerang though inferior to the Goddess Sword thus it is a middle tier amiibo exclusive single-handed weapon. Its metallic thus is effected by the Magnesis Rune and attracts lightning during thunderstorms but won't burn if exposed to fire or volcanic heat. Like all amiibo exclusive armaments, it has no Hyrule Compendium entry.
