- "You got the Telescope! This is your sister's most precious belonging. Treasure it dearly!"
- — In-game description
The Telescope is an item that appears in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes.
Appearances[]
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker[]
The Telescope is Aryll's prized possession, lent to Link for the entirety of his birthday at the start of the game. Due to Aryll's kidnapping, Link keeps the Telescope for the rest of the game. After rescuing her, Link receives a message giving him permission to keep it for a little while longer. It provides a significantly clearer image than that of the naked eye, making it a useful item on the large Great Sea, where it is often best to see foes from afar. While optional, the Telescope must be used once during the beginning of the game.
Upon receiving it, Link must use the telescope to eye Quill, the postman jumping up and down, looking at something apparently interesting in the sky. Upon further inspection, Link sees that he is watching the Helmaroc King being attacked by Tetra's Pirates, as Tetra herself is in the grasp of the Helmaroc King's talons. The Helmaroc King is hit in the face by a cannonball and drops Tetra in the forest at the top of Outset Island.
Bokoblins that operate platforms across the Great Sea are often seen carrying telescopes of their own that are similar to Link's Telescope. These Bokoblins do not use their telescopes in battle, but attack with jumping kicks.
There is a minor bug in the game that causes Bokoblin on Lookout Platforms to sometimes appear wielding a Sharp Machete while wielding a telescope in the same hand, making the Telescope and Machete models to overlap, making it look like their wielding a telescope with a blade coming out of it.
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes[]
In Tri Force Heroes, wearing Linebeck's Uniform will cause Link's Sword to transform into a Telescope. However this change is purely cosmetic and does not prevent him from using it as his sword.
