"Nothing. Just as I thought. Hmm... It appears that this structure was designed to be exclusively accessed by the sword's chosen one. But designs can always be worked around, at least I hope. How do I get inside...? I need to activate it somehow."
Princess Zelda

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

During Recovered Memory #5: "Zelda's Resentment", Princess Zelda attempts to use the Sheikah Slate to activate the Shrine's Guidance Stone to open it in order to access the Shrine as part of her research. However her efforts end in frustration. She notes to herself that the shrine is apparently only intented to be accessed by the Master Sword's Chosen One, but she hopes she can find a way to access the Shrine on her own. However before she can contemplate any further, Link rides up to her on his Horse. In her frustration, she tells Link she thought she made it clear she does not require an escort and that she is apparently the only one with a mind of her own. She tells him see is fine regardless of the King's orders and tells him to return to the castle and tell that to her father. As she angrily walks off, Link follows her causing her to yell at him to stop following her. Zelda's resentment of how Link has easily adapted to his role as the chosen one while she struggles to awaken her sealing powers apparently prevents her from even contemplating enlisting his aid to access the Shrine thus it remains unopened until after Link awakens from the Slumber of Restoration a century later.
