The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Creating a Champion is an artbook/sourcebook based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It features concept art, sketches, and design art for the game by illustrator Takumi Wada, along with a historical section that delves into the history of Hyrule as portrayed in the game and provides an in-depth look into the events leading up the Great Calamity and the conflict itself along with its aftermath. The artwork is accompanied by notes and recollections on the game's development from the developers. It also includes interviews with the developers including director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, art director Satoru Takizawa, illustrator Takumi Wada, and series producer Eiji Aonuma.

The book also provides information on the game's characters, races, animals, enemies, bosses, locations, and items featuring artwork and screenshots as well as insight on their development. Additionally it confirms certain plot points only implied in-game such as Princess Zelda and the Royal Family of Hyrule being descended from the Goddess Hylia's moral reincarnation from Skyward Sword. It also reveals information on the mysterious Zonai, a lost tribe responsible for the creation of the Zonai Ruins and reveals their connection to other ancient structures such as the Lomei Labyrinths and Thyphlo Ruins, connections only hinted at in-game through the architecture of those places.
