The Sky is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Serving as the Overworld, it is a vast area found above the Cloud Barrier, which separates it from The Surface. The area has several small islands strewn about, with Skyloft being the largest. The northwestern area of The Sky is covered by a large Thunderhead during the events of the game. Notable islands in The Sky are Bamboo Island, Beedle's Island, Bug Rock, Fun Fun Island, the Isle of Songs and Pumpkin Landing.

Treasure Chests opened by Goddess Cubes can be found on almost every island in The Sky. These special chests can only be opened when a corresponding Goddess Cube is activated on The Surface. Inside these chests are usually items that can go into Link's Adventure Pouch, Rupees, or the occasional Piece of Heart.

Found throughout The Sky are small, hollow rocks which Loftwings can fly through to gain tremendous speed, which serves as a method of rapid transit between the major locations. Skydiving from high over some locations results in skydiver-like creatures appearing, and if Link links up with all of them in a circle he is rewarded with twenty Rupees.

Octoroks can be found on some of the boulders floating throughout The Sky. They will spit rocks at Link and his Loftwing. If dispatched with an attack, they often drop Rupees which Link collects immediately. Big Guays also appear in The Sky carrying Rupees. Link can claim these Rupees by attacking the Guay holding them.

If Link falls down to the sky, he ends up back onto the last solid ground he was on, similar to a bottomless pit, except he does not suffer any damage; if he falls off of Skyloft, he is picked up by one of Skyloft's Rescue Knights.

Each piece of the Ancient Tablet Link obtains and placed in the alter inside the Inside the Statue of the Goddess, will create a column of Light that opens a hole in the Cloud Barrier granting access to one of the three regions of The Surface: Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, and Lanayru Desert. Link can journey to these locations by skydiving off his Loftwing over these locations.

Hyrule Warriors[]

The Sky appears as part of the Skyloft stage. Interestingly, it seems that as a result of Cia's using the Triforce to warp time and space, has caused several sky islands such as Fun Fun Island and Pumpkin Landing to crash into Skyloft.
