Twilight Portals are objects from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. These portals serve as links between the Twilight Realm and Hyrule. They are used by Zant to transport Shadow Beasts to Hyrule during his invasion. After the beasts are destroyed by Link, the portal's color changes from red to turquoise, and Midna can use it to warp Link and herself to a different area in Hyrule —but only when Link is in wolf form.
Midna is also able to create these herself after a boss fight. The major difference between the two is that Midna's portals are projected on the ground. These portals don't lead to other portals; instead, they usually lead to the nearest Spirit's Spring or the area outside the dungeon. Ganon also uses Twilight Portals in his boss fight; after taking damage he will vanish, subsequently creating one portal after another, before one of them finally changes color to blue and Ganon comes charging forth from it. They appear floating vertically, and unlike the other Twilight Portals, only have the red/blue markings without the black mass.
Locations[]

- N Faron Woods
- S Faron Woods

Non-canonical appearances[]
Non-canon warning: This article or section contains non-canonical information that is not considered to be an official part of the Legend of Zelda series and should not be considered part of the overall storyline.
Super Smash Bros. series[]
A Portal makes an appearance on the Bridge of Eldin stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U; after King Bulblin destroys the bridge, a Portal appears sporadically to repair it, similar to an event in Twilight Princess.
Hyrule Warriors[]
Midna and Zant use Twilight Portals to summon creatures to aid them in battle as part of their movesets. Midna uses them to summon her Twilight Wolfos that she rides and Zant uses them to summon Zant Mask and Zant's Hand to attack enemies. Interestingly, their Twilight Portals in Hyrule Warriors are produced from the ground as opposed to the sky as in Twilight Princess and their function resembles the Magic Circles used by characters like Agitha in overall function (as they are both magical constructs that can transport and summon creatures).
