Divine Beast Vah Medoh is a mechanical construct in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is one of the four Divine Beasts. Vah Medoh is made from Ancient Sheikah technology and takes the form of a giant eagle in the Tabantha Frontier region. Ganon sent Windblight Ganon to corrupt it, transforming it into one of the main dungeons. Link must defeat this boss to free Vah Medoh.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

One hundred years before the events of Breath of the Wild, Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule, his daughter, her Knight Link, along with four other Champions sought to seal Ganon through the use of the Divine Beasts and Guardians. Ganon retaliated by taking control of Vah Medoh and the other Divine Beasts, turning them against the people of Hyrule. Revali, the Rito Champion who was in charge of controlling Vah Medoh, met his demise by Windblight Ganon, who then assumed control of Vah Medoh for the next one hundred years.

During this time, Vah Medoh would continuously fly around Rito Village, attacking anyone or anything that rose high enough to meet it. Around the time of Link's reawakening, Teba and Harth attempted to attack it, with no success. Teba was unharmed in the attempt, but Harth was injured. Teba was undeterred being left alone, and was going to fight Vah Medoh himself once again. When Link arrives to help, Teba puts him to an arching test, which he passes with ease. Armed with bomb arrows, the pair travels up to Vah Medoh.

Eventually, Link destroys the four spots producing Vah Medoh's shield. These structures launch Guardian-like beams, one of which appears to have grazed Teba, forcing him to go back to Rito Village to recover. Link is left alone to free Vah Medoh. He successfully activates its terminals, and destroys Windblight Ganon. Revali's spirit appears, and rewards him with his power, Revali's Gale. He trains Vah Medoh's aim at Hyrule Castle. It fires a massive laser that, together with the other Divine Beasts, reduces Calamity Ganon's health to half.

The name for Vah Medoh, like all four of the Divine Beasts, is based on a sage from a past installment of the Legend of Zelda series. Vah Medoh's name is a reference to the name of the sage of earth, Medli, from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Vah Medoh is the only Divine Beast not to have a name in reference of a sage from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.

Befitting the Rito's falcon-like appearance, Vah Medoh bears the likeness of a raptor (bird of prey). The call it makes is the iconic eagle's call, albeit in reality it is that of the red-tailed hawk's. Coincidentally, its small crest and narrow tail give it a slight resemblance to the fittingly-named Ornate Hawk-Eagle.
