"Rings do nothing unless worn!"
— Vasu

Vasu as he appears in-game

Vasu is a character who appears in both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. He is a jeweler and appraiser, knowledged in the facilities of Seed Rings. His appearance is that of a stereotypical Indian man, complete with a turban and two pet serpents who assist Link with ring fortunes and can transfer rings between games.

When Link stops by Vasu Jewelers for the first time, he is given a Ring Box and an unappraised ring, that Vasu appraises for free. Later, when Link receives a Seed Ring, it can be taken to Vasu for appraisal. The appraisal of one ring costs twenty Rupees. If the ring is revealed to be a ring that Link already has, Vasu can purchase it back from Link for thirty Rupees, giving Link a ten Rupee profit.

Etymology[]

Vasu's name is likely inspired by the Vasus, attendant gods in the Hindu religion. This seems plausible, as Vasu is depicted as a stereotypical man from India, where the focal religion is Hinduism.
